On March 4, 2026, Avatr officially announced that the new Avatr 12 will start pre-sales on March 20. The new car has undergone an all-round upgrade, becoming the first model to be equipped with Huawei's newly launched next-generation dual-light path image-level 896-line LiDAR, and is also fitted with the Taihang Intelligent Control 2.0 technology. It has been revamped in aspects such as intelligent perception, chassis control, interior experience, as well as power and range, bringing a higher-level travel experience for users.
In terms of intelligent perception, the LiDAR layout and hardware of the new Avatr 12 have been upgraded with a major revamp. The new car adopts a roof-mounted design for the LiDAR, and is also equipped with LiDAR on the front fenders on both sides. The Huawei 896-line dual-light path image-level LiDAR delivers a substantial improvement in resolution and detection range, enabling the vehicle to perceive the surrounding environment more accurately and providing a more reliable hardware support for intelligent driving. In terms of body dimensions, the new car measures 5020/1999/1470 (1460) mm in length, width and height, with a wheelbase of 3020 mm, retaining the spatial advantage of a medium and large luxury sedan.
For the interior, the new Avatr 12 has been refined with numerous detailed optimizations centered on practicality and luxury. Physical buttons for the Avatr one-click voice control and Boost one-click acceleration have been added to the steering wheel, making operations more convenient and further enhancing driving pleasure. The DMS driver fatigue warning system has been optimized and upgraded, which can monitor the driver's status with higher precision to boost driving safety. The door panel area has also been adjusted in a humanized way: the emergency handle at the armrest has been optimized with additional window control buttons added, and an open door panel storage area has been set up below, improving the convenience of daily use. In addition, the roof is wrapped in velvet material, greatly enhancing the luxurious texture of the cockpit, and an AVATR MAG connection point has been newly added at the rear row to further enrich the expandability of in-car functions.
In terms of power and range, the new Avatr 12 still offers two power forms: extended-range and pure electric, meeting the travel needs of different users. The extended-range version is equipped with a 1.5T range extender with a maximum power of 115 kW, adopting a rear dual-motor layout with a maximum power of 200 kW for each motor. It is fitted with a 52.01 kWh battery, and its pure electric range has been adjusted to 261 km, balancing the needs of long-distance travel and short-distance pure electric use.
The pure electric version is available in four-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive variants. The rear-wheel drive model adopts a rear dual-motor layout with a maximum power of 251 kW for each motor; the four-wheel drive version is further equipped with a 210 kW front single motor on this basis, delivering a more powerful dynamic performance. Meanwhile, the battery capacity of the pure electric version has been upgraded to 98.07 kWh, providing three range options of 735 km, 670 km and 605 km for different variants, effectively addressing users' range anxiety.
As a core model of Avatr, the upgrade of the new Avatr 12 this time focuses on the two core pillars of intelligence and luxury. The combination of Taihang Intelligent Control 2.0 technology and Huawei's 896-line LiDAR has pushed the vehicle's intelligent driving and chassis control capabilities to a new level, while the interior refinements and power and range upgrades have further enhanced the overall product strength. The new car will officially start pre-sales on March 20, and its market performance is highly anticipated.
